James V. McConnell, "Psychology Today"

James V. McConnell, Psychology Today (1970)

The day has come when we can combine sensory deprivation with drugs, hypnosis, and astute manipulation of reward and punishment to gain more absolute control over an individual behavior.  It should be then possible to achieve a very rapid and highly effective type of positive brainwashing that would allow us to make dramatic change in a person's behavior and personality.

We should reshape society so that we all would be trained from birth to want to do what societies want us to do.  We have the techniques to do it.  ...No one owns his own personality.
